Delicious Berry Chia Jam

Home   Nourishing Blog   Delicious Berry Chia Jam

Delicious Berry Chia Jam Recipe!

Did you know conventional jam is around 50% pure sugar?

And while it is undoubtedly delicious, this berry chia jam is just as scrumptious and certainly far more nutritious. It is also extremely versatile – spread it on toast, use it as a topping for pancakes or to add flavour to natural Greek Yoghurt.

The method is super simple and utilises chia’s ability to absorb liquids. In fact chia seeds, can absorb up to ten times their weight in liquid. Chia seeds are also a great source of fibre which slows digestion, preventing rapid spikes in blood sugar levels (which often also cause meltdowns in children).

You can easily substitute the berries for a combination of other fruits to mix it up and make a variety of jam flavours.

Directions

  1. Place Nourishing Bubs blocks, chia seeds, frozen berries and vanilla in a small saucepan over medium heat.

  2. Stir occasionally to allow purees to defrost and frozen berries to defrost and soften.

  3. Cook for approximately 10 – 15 minutes until mixture thickens and berries can be mashed up easily.

  4. Remove from heat and allow to cool.

  5. You may still also like to place in food processor if you prefer a more consistent texture.

  6. Store in a jar in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
