This colourful Build a Plate is a beautiful way to offer your toddler a balanced, nourishing meal while keeping things simple and fun. With soft roasted pumpkin, naturally sweet apple, wholesome Zucchini & Currant Muffins, and hearty Quinoa Veggie Bites, this plate brings together a variety of flavours, textures and nutrients that support growing bodies and curious little eaters.
The roasted pumpkin in this recipe is soft, slightly caramelised and full of comforting flavour. It’s a nourishing vegetable for toddlers, providing beta-carotene, which the body converts to vitamin A to support eye health, immune function and healthy skin while the drizzle of extra virgin olive oil adds healthy fats that support brain development.
The Zucchini & Currant Muffins add a naturally sweet and satisfying element to the plate. The zucchini and currants are rich in fibre, vitamin C and antioxidants, which together help to support digestion, boost immunity and protect growing little cells.
The Quinoa Veggie Bites bring an extra boost of nourishment. Quinoa is rich in plant-based protein which is needed for bub’s growth and development. These bites also contribute fibre, B vitamins and minerals, which help to support tummy digestion and overall wellbeing.
The grated apple sprinkled with cinnamon adds freshness, a natural sweetness and provides fibre to help bub’s gut microbiome flourish.

This plate offers your little one the opportunity to explore different textures and flavours at their own pace, encourages curiosity and supports the development of chewing skills and food acceptance. Warm, nourishing and simple to prepare, this toddler plate makes it easy to offer a balanced meal that supports growth, development and joyful eating.
Preheat the oven to 180°C and line a baking tray with a baking sheet.
Place pumpkin pieces on a baking tray and drizzle with olive oil, garlic powder and Italian herb blend.
Place in the oven along with zucchini & currant muffins and quinoa veggie bites and bake for 10 mins. Leave the pumpkin pieces on for an additional 20 minutes, until soft and tender.
Sprinkle cinnamon on grated apple and assemble on a plate along with zucchini & currant muffins, quinoa veggie bites and pumpkin.
