This colourful Build a Plate is a simple and nourishing way to offer your toddler a balanced mix of flavours, textures and nutrients, all in one fun and approachable meal. Featuring soft Banana & Date Cookies, hearty Salmon Lentil Patties, tender broccoli and naturally sweet plum pieces rolled in coconut, this plate encourages little ones to explore new foods while supporting their growing bodies.
The Salmon Lentil Patties provide a wonderful combination of protein, healthy fats and fibre. Salmon is rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which support brain development, eye health and healthy growth during the toddler years. Lentils add plant-based protein, iron and fibre, important nutrients that help support healthy development, energy levels and digestion.
The Banana & Date Cookies bring natural sweetness to the plate while still offering valuable nourishment. Bananas provide potassium for muscle and nerve function, while dates add natural fibre to keep bub regular and and folate for brain development. Together they create a soft, toddler-friendly cookie that satisfies little appetites while providing lasting energy.
Steamed broccoli florets add a pop of vibrant green and an extra boost of goodness. Broccoli is packed with vitamin C to support immune health, along with fibre for healthy digestion. A gentle squeeze of lemon juice brightens the flavour while also adding a small boost of vitamin C to help support iron absorption from the lentils.
The plum pieces rolled in shredded coconut offer a naturally sweet and refreshing bite. Plums contain antioxidants and fibre that support gut health, while coconut adds healthy fats and texture that makes the fruit easier for little fingers to grasp.

This plate offers a lovely balance of protein, healthy fats, fibre and natural carbohydrates, helping to keep toddlers satisfied while encouraging independent eating. The mix of colours, flavours and textures also supports sensory exploration and builds confidence with self-feeding.
Preheat the oven to 180°C and line a baking tray with a baking sheet.
Place salmon lentil patties and banana & date cookies in the oven and bake for 10 mins.
To prepare the broccoli, place broccoli florets in a microwave safe bowl, add the water and cover with a microwave safe plate. Microwave for 2-4 minutes until bright green and tender-crisp. Finish off with a squeeze of lemon juice.
Roll plum pieces into shredded coconut to make them less slippery for bub.
Assemble your plate with salmon lentil patties, banana & date cookies, broccoli and plum.
