Prawn (Shellfish) Allergen Introduction Powder
Description
Prawn (crustacean) is one of the top 9 allergens worldwide. Current guidelines from the Australian Society of Clinical Immunology and Allergy (ASCIA) recommend introducing prawn before 12 months of age, starting with a very small amount and gradually increasing over several days.
A simple introduction guide may look like:
Day 1 – ¼ teaspoon
Day 2 – ½ teaspoon
Day 3 – 1 teaspoon
Day 4 – 2 teaspoons
If tolerated with no reaction, prawn should ideally remain in your baby’s diet, offered at least once per week in an age-appropriate form to help maintain tolerance.
Our Prawn Powder has been thoughtfully created to make both introduction and ongoing maintenance simple. Just mix the recommended amount into a previously tolerated puree or meal and offer to your bub.
Maintaining exposure to crustaceans can be tricky, as they are not always part of a family's regular weekly shop. This convenient powder format makes it easy for families to confidently include prawn as part of a varied and allergen-inclusive diet.
A practical, evidence-based way to support safe allergen introduction — made simple for modern parents.
Suitability: When bub starts solids, around 6 months, not before 4 months.
Each sachet contains: 50g Prawn Powder, which equates to approximately 17 teaspoons of prawn powder for introduction and maintenance.
Storage: Best stored in a cool, dry place.
